She began taking music seriously in 2020, during a time when the world seemed to pause and she had the space to figure out what she really wanted. Since then, music has become a way for her to explore the highs, lows, uncertainty, and excitement that come with wanting something—or someone—badly enough to chase it.
At the heart of IUMI’s current era is the feeling of catching a flight for somebody. The rush of getting to the airport, the anticipation of boarding, the possibility of landing somewhere completely different—all of it mirrors the feeling of pursuing someone you want and asking yourself along the way: Is this worth it? How far am I willing to go?
That question lives throughout her music.
IUMI’s songs exist somewhere between the club, the airport, and the bedroom mirror. They are made for getting dressed before meeting someone, feeling yourself in the mirror, deciding what you're going to wear, and stepping out the door knowing you look good. But underneath the confidence is something more vulnerable: the desire to be wanted, to be chosen, and to know that the person you're chasing is willing to chase you too.
That duality comes from experience. After being cheated on and allowing someone else to make her feel less than she knew she was, IUMI found herself wanting music that could remind her of who she was outside of that experience. Instead of sitting in that feeling, she chose to turn it into something empowering.
That became part of the reason she makes music now.
IUMI believes being sexy doesn't have to mean pretending everything is perfect. Real people go through heartbreak, insecurity, disappointment, and complicated relationships—and they still deserve to feel good. They still deserve to get dressed, go out, flirt, dance, fall for someone, and enjoy themselves.
Her music lives in that space: where vulnerability meets confidence, where wanting someone doesn't mean losing yourself, and where the journey can be just as exciting as finally arriving.
